The red Crozes-Hermitages are
produced from the Syrah grapes. Of a deep crimson colour with purplish
nuances these wines have strong aromas in particular of blackcurrant
when they are young. They develop peppery and animal aromas on ageing.
These wines are full-bodied, tannic without being overly tannic
and well-balanced.
The white Crozes-Hermitages are essentially from
the Marsanne grapes. These white wines surprise the neophytes with
their finesse, elegance and freshness. Hawthorn aromas are rapidly
succeeded by scents of dried fruits and honey. Dry, but not vivid,
fat but not sweet, the white Crozes-Hermitages refute every day
the low interest of wine experts for the white wines from the Rhone
Valley.
